Providing solutions to the problem:«Ways to improve the learning of foreign languages».

krisa @ 12:00

Learning of foreign languages is very difficult and important nowadays. However, everybody has his own method of learning and no one is perfect. Fortunately, there are some ways to improve and make studies more interesting and cognitive.Of course, learning of foreign languages can’t be imagined without basis: grammatics, vocabulary, phonetics, speaking, listening and others. This can give you the main knowledge of the language. On the other hand, it can become boring and tiring to learn only endless new words, grammatic rules, sounds…

The first way to vary lessons is to watch films in the language you are trying to learn. This can help you to remember the accent, intonation and manners of speaking. Also different quotations can broaden your language dictionary.

Another way is listening to and singing foreign songs. Listening will help you to understand other people speaking on this language. Singing will provide an excellent pronunciation of words and shortenings incident to native users of this language.

Third way is organization of trips abroad. If you travel to the country language of that you’re learning you’ll have a fine opportunity to talk to carriers of this language. Also all the traditions, mode of life, historical monuments will give you the whole conception of the culture of peoples speaking the language you’re learning.

And the last way is reading foreign newspapers, magazines and other authentic reading materials. Modern language and new words are provided. Your vocabulary will be filled with new expressions from different epochs of the development of this language.

All in all, it is really difficult to study foreign languages but using these ways you can make your learning full-filling and exciting. You’ll not notice how quickly your range of vision will broaden and boring studies become much more pleasant.

The advantages and disadvantages of going to work by car.

The statistics says that most of working people go to work only by car. And only a small amount of people think about another type of transport or about the fumes that cars are producing. In fact using a car as the one transport has a lot of advantages and disadvantages as.

First of all riding by car is of course more comfortable than going on foot or by public transport. Futhermore,it is much quickier as you can completely control your trip: you can speed as you want, you can turn where you want and you can cut your way for more earlier arrival.

However, as you know, cars produce a lot of dust and unhealthy fumes. Using car leads to ecological problems, which are especially seen in huge cities. Also car is a very dangerous type of transport. Car crashes are very often and only your wish to come to work earlier can result in your broken leg or arm. Moreover, car driving can be possible only if you are still alert and not sleepy, while after work you are rarely so. And in conclusion, driving can bring different health problems itself: headache, sickness, idle legs and backbone, degradation of vision and tiredness can lead your everyday driving.

To sum up all what was said, it seems to me that driving has much more disadvantages than advantages, and all these disadvantages are connected with the human health. But, as the quotation says, health is our main gold in our life. So I suppose less driving is better, but of course there are some situations when car is neccessary.

Isn't it amazing to realise how deep is human knowledge in science, technologies and mashinery? Nowadays the role of technological progress is increasing with a huge speed and it is permanent, it can't be stopped.

The main idea of progress is making our everyday life more comfortable, more functional and interesting. It gives our mind an opportunity to breathe, to create and to dream. Who could imagine in 18th century that people can talk to each other without visiting him?Who could just suppose that it is impossible? Only after the discovery of electricity people suspected that it can be used in connections and communications between people, nations, continents and even planets.Tha major advantage of development of our knowledge is the possibility to change our world to the better.

However, on the other hand, we remember some terrible catastrophes, in which only people are fault, not nature. Chernobyl's atomic station explosion, which brought millions of hektars of forests and millions of animals deaths, thousands of square kilometres of past-fertile soul polluted;well-known steamboat "Titanic" flood, in the result of which only about 10 passengers stayed alive and many-many others.

All things considered, it seems tp me that even these deathbringing events can bring to the humanity some experience. A lot of people souls need to be sacrificed for other to undrestand the mistakes and continue the line of discoveries. So I can say that technological progress isn't so exciting as it can seem at first sight.

Dear Mr G. Jeffreys,I saw your advertisement in the newspaper and I’m very interested in the shop assistanting job you are advertising.I’m 18 years old and I’m planning to go to university in September, so I’m looking for a job in order to earn some money.I have done a lot of summer work in the past, working as a shop assistant in a book shop, so I have some experience in dealing with customers and showing them everything around. I don’t mind hard work and I can easily communicate with people.I’ve got a few questions, though, such as what pay you are offering and if I’ll need to work on Saturdays. Could you also tell me if I would get any days off and what experience and knowledge in music is required?I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon                                                        Yours sincerely,                                                                                                 Ann Khrisanfova.

Dear Susan,

Thanks for your letter last week. I'm really very glad you can enjoy your holiday in Greece. I suppose, you'll return home sunburnt and very happy.

You wanted to know something about my scuba-diving course I went on last summer. To begin with I can surely predicate that my experience wasn't pleasant at all. But now I know that it's silly to believe the very first man.

Firstly, in the brochure it was said that we'll be provided by the full accommodation. In fact, we got only two meals free and my suite easn't so comfortable at all: my bed was broken (though, in 2 hours it was replaced by a new one), the windows couldn't close and the night breeze didn't let me sleep calm as the frame was always striking and the shower was cleaned only twice during my 3 weeks of holiday.

Secondly, we needed a pool, where we could practise our diving but it was too shallow and small so we had to crowd in it what wasn't enjoyable at all.

Thirdly, we were promised to be given by modern equipment but in reality our equipment was old and uneffective. So we couldn't fully relish the process of scuba-diving.

And at last, daily boat trips out to areas full of sealife were only my dreams!  In stead of 21 times of washing in the sea and watching the sealife we goe only twice.

To sum it all up, I can add that this experience wasn't unuseful, though. Now I suppose I can choose the right course and maybe dive a little, though my skill isn't so perfect as it was promised.

Looking forward to see you again. Drop me a line.

                                                                   Love, Ann.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with Castile Spanish Intensive Courses I attended since 21st of September.

The Spanish family I was accommodated with was very unwelcoming and umfriendly. They greeted me coldly and spoke with me rather rareky, so I could not get any practice skills in language.

Secondly, highly experienced tutors were not qualified at all. My teacher even did not have the training plan and our lessons were irregular. In other words I could not improve my pronunciation or writing skills, moreover the study hours I paid for were uninteresting and aneffective.

In addition to this, our trip to city museum was cancelled and we even did not know the reason of that, though the weather that day was magnificent and our bus was already waiting for us at the entrance. What is more, the money from that trip was not returned to us.

I suppose, I should be compensated for my great disappointment with this course. Look forward to a reply at your earliest convenience.

                                                             Yours faithfully,

                                                                           Ann Khrisanfova.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to apply for a place on the Winston University Historic course which commences this January at Winston University.

I am 18 years old and I have graduated from the University of East London in 2005 with a degree in History, where I received first class honours.

Since the completion of my History degree I have spent 2 years  working as an assistant of History teacher at Highfield School in Manchester. During this activity I have assisted in the creating of History Project on theme "The second World War. Reasons and Results." This work was extremely interesting and enjoyable and I am now anxious to specialise by gaining further qualifications before embarking on my chosen career in this field.

I have enclosed a copy of my CV. I would be glad to attend an enterview at any time convenient to you. Look forward to receiving your response in the near future.

                                                                      Yours faithfully,

                                                                    Ann Khrisanfova.

a)

Dear, Alise,

The birthday party you invited me to on August 29th sounds great.

I'm really pleased to receive it and I'd love to come. This day, 29th of August, really suits me as a free one.

Though, it has been not so long time since we've seen each other, I'm sure we'll spend enjoyable time joking and sharing news with each other. Please let me know what I can do to help. Perhaps, I can organise the music.

Oh, one other thing. Will it be all right to bring my dog Bonny with me? No one of my neighbors can sit with him this day.

Thanks again, and see you on the 29th.

                                                                     Love, Ann.

b)

Dear Richard and Judy,

Your 25th Wedding Anniversary you have invited me to on October 15th sounds greatly.

Unfortunately, I won't be able make it as it is my Maths exam for entrancing the Financial Avademy to make. It is a very important event for me and I really can't miss it as I was prepairing for it the whole year.

It's such a pity I can't visit you as it is amazing that you have already been together for 25 years! It's suvh an experience term! I want to wish your family flourishing, love and new children, who will gladden you all your life.

But, maybe, we can arrange to get together another time instead. Perhaps, I'll throw a party on my husbend's Birthday so we can see each other that time. I'll let you know/

Thanks for the invitation again, and hope the party go well.

                                                                    Love, Ann.

Letter of apology

krisa @ 08:03

Dear Susan,

I'm writing to you to say how sorry I am for my behaviour last weekend when I was at your seaside cottage. I realise how upset you were after the event, and I thought I'd write you to try to sort out the problem.

When we were sitting in armchairs I didn't notice the glass of tomato juice stood on the table nearby. In the moment I stood up I accidentlly pushed the glass and the juice flew on your Persian rug.

I suppose that what happened won't anger you a lot, offering to clean your expensive rug every time you want. Also I'd like to invite you to my house next weekend so I can say again how sorry I am.

Once more, I beg you to forgive me for that misdeed,

                                                               Love,

                                                                              Ann.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I want to express my strong dissatisfaction with the service I received during my visit to your hotel from March 30th till April 5th.

Firstly, when I first entered my suite I discovered that it wasn't cleantd after the previous visitors: towels were lying on the floor, the bed was untidy, wardrobes were opened and pegs (вешалки) were dropped out of it. The curtains also were unironed and dirty. Such a greeting of a respectable hotel is disgusting.

Secondly, 2 days later it was also found that running water in the bath was switched off and I even couldn't take a shower! In hotels cold and ot running water is neccessary!

And at last, when I ordered fruits in my suite it was delivered only in an hour and 15 minutes by a very gloomy worker who entered the room without permission and then ran away without a word.

I'm sure I'll nrver rest in your hotel again. And I advice you,    as a manager of the hotel, to guard against such appalling       treatment of your customers in future.

                                                                 Yours faithfully,

                                                                    Ann Khrisanfova.
